Tomorrow night is the start of the next #
skeeball season. My co-worker's wife can't come, but he has a friend who will be our 3rd. We have settled on the name "Holey Rollers" (not to be confused with "Holy Rollers") for this season. Tomorrow night is the sign-up party, so no team play, just some individual games: 40 Challenge, 50 Challenge, and Hundo Challenge (or, at least that is what we played the previous 3 seasons). This is where we go thru rounds trying to hit a particular score. In the first round, you get 3 balls to get 1 of the target score. If you get one, you move on. In the 2nd round, you only get 2 balls. In the 3rd and subsequent rounds, you only get one. Rounds repeat until only one player remains. If all players are eliminated in a round, all in that round roll again.
I continue to practice at home, playing at least a full game of 10 frames per day. I decided to start roll for 50's instead of 40's. Being smaller and farther, I figured that would be good for working on my aim, making 40's easier. Doing this yesterday, I rolled a 241, my worst since I started tracking at home. No biggie. The whole point was that it was supposed to be harder, right? Then today, doing the same thing, I scored a new personal record of 303. Yowza! I almost got a cherry on the first frame. I rolled eight 50's in a row and then missed the last roll, giving me my best frame at home of 410. I guess we shall see how well this practice at home translates to the machines at the arcade. It has to help because my biggest issue is consistent aim. Aim is aim, even if I'm just flinging it across the room, right? I might have to adjust for distance, but distance doesn't matter much if your aim is off.
