Back in the 90's, when ballot access laws for President were much tougher in Florida, my wife and I were collecting petitions for a 3rd party Presidential candidate and someone told us they thought there were already too many choices. I don't recall the conversation, but I have a hard time imagining that neither my wife nor I said "You think two is too many?"

60% of Americans say Trump shouldn't run and 70% say Biden shouldn't run, yet a rematch of those bozos seems like the most likely result at this point. The DNC has said no Democratic candidate debate. I doubt the RNC can get away with that without a sitting President running.

New Hampshire Senate Unanimously Passes Constitutional Amendment Saying New Hampshire’s Primary is First

On March 30, the New Hampshire Senate unanimously passed CACR9, which says that New Hampshire’s presidential primary will always be the first presidential primary in the nation. Assuming this passes the House, as a proposed constitutional amendment, it will be on the ballot for voters to approve in November 2024.

What a strange thing to be so important to a state's identity that they want to put it in their constitution. Imagine if some other state decided to do the same thing.

Social Security Will Be Insolvent by 2033

New data from the program's trustees show that insolvency will hit a year sooner than previously expected, giving policy makers just a decade before automatic benefit cuts occur.

Like my youngest for whom "We are leaving in 10 minutes" means "You don't have to get ready to leave for 10 minutes", Congress thinks this means they can keep doing nothing about this for another 10 years.

4 Ways to Influence People’s Behavior Besides Coercion

While people have wildly different views on the proper role of government, most would agree that coercive laws should at least be a last resort. If we can change someone’s behavior without using threats of violence, great, but if we can’t, well, then it’s time to call the politicians.

This position raises an important question that doesn’t get as much attention as it should: what exactly are the other options we can resort to before using coercion? If we agree coercion should be a last resort, it's incumbent upon us to first thoroughly explore and exhaust other possible means of changing someone’s behavior. Yet so often it seems we fail to do this and instead take our problems straight to the ballot box.

So, in an effort to at least minimize the number of times we ask the government to get involved, here are four ideas for non-violent ways to influence other people’s behavior.
