So, this happened today. We were having a thunderstorm when there was a massive crack of thunder. I thought "Holy shit, that sounds like it was just across the street!!" I looked out the front door thinking that it could have been a block away and I would see nothing. Instead, I saw this! The lightning had spiraled down the trunk ripping off sheets of bark. There were small chunks of bark littering the road.
