It looks like Ian is heading our way... We've put away all the random loose things that were on the patio and trimmed some branches that were close to the house.

We reinforced the neighbor's aging fence with new 4x4 supports on our side

My wife just told me that Jim Cantore has been spotted in Tampa, so things are getting serious now! :-)

Yeah, since the projected 5-day cone first reached Florida, it has shifted west a bit. Jim Cantore probably needs to head north.

Oh, cool, the link I used for the image in the original post points to an image that gets updated. The 5PM EDT advisory is out and the track looks pretty much the same.

Looks like the center is targeting south of Tampa Bay now. Things have strengthened overnight, so they are going to get hit hard. I am now outside the "cone of death." The outer bands of rain should start hitting us within an hour. I was just outside and it is getting breezy.

This is going to drag out for us. We haven't even hit 1/4" of rain yet. It is going to cross the state south of us, then go by us to the east. It should be weakened significantly before it gets near us. But, all it takes is one tree falling in a bad direction to ruin your day.

Hang in there! If the path keeps shifting east, Thursday and Friday may not be much worse than today for us.

The current forecast track predicts the eye going just south of Orlando. I expect the 11pm forecast track will shift it further south, based on the actual track. The radar shows most of the rain happening on the north side of the storm. Orlando is already getting hit pretty hard by feeder bands, so it is all a matter of degree. The 11pm report will also give us some updates on expected strength as is continues to move across the stage. At 8pm, the max sustained winds were 115 mph, down from 140 at 5pm. Hopefully, they have continued to drop rapidly. The storm is moving slowly and isn't (as of last forecast, expected to reach the east cost until tomorrow afternoon, so that means dealing with whatever it is throwing at you for a long time. Expected rainfall is pretty high in some places:
