That is one of the main reasons why our country is in such a sad state. People propose policies that sound good, but are economically disastrous.

"There ain't no such thing as a free lunch!" Yet, pandering candidates spend all day offering free lunches for votes. Or, if they are slightly more honest, they offer to make your neighbor buy you lunch (while offering your neighbor the same deal).

I forgot who said this, but they said that once the voters realized that they can vote for "free" benefits from the government, everything starts going downhill, because eventually they run out tax money.
