I asked a similar question to this before.... Has anyone used Ubuntu Touch to drive their phone? I believe if you plug the phone into a monitor, you get a desktop interface as well. #^Home | Ubuntu Touch

It also looks like they have some compatibility with newer phones #^https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/
For example: The google pixel 3a is listed as stable with the only things I see not working are: wireless external monitor
and volume control in calls

I tested it years ago with the Nexus 10 tablet.
