I asked a similar question to this before.... Has anyone used Ubuntu Touch to drive their phone? I believe if you plug the phone into a monitor, you get a desktop interface as well.

It also looks like they have some compatibility with newer phones #^https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/ For example: The google pixel 3a is listed as stable with the only things I see not working are: wireless external monitor and volume control in calls.

Listed a NOT compatible: It looks like they are actively working to get the Galaxy S10 suite: #^https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/beyondxlte/

I tested it years ago with the Nexus 10 tablet.

Cool, what was your impression of Sailfish? How was your compatibility?

I really enjoyed the gesture based system in Sailfish. I found myself making the swiping motions in Android when I switched to a different phone. It feels very natural, and I found it to be very beautiful.

If you are lucky enough to have supported hardware, and get it installed, you quickly realize that the Sailfish app ecosystem is lagging far behind the quality and variety of open source Android apps (F-Droid repo).

However, this was a couple years ago. There have been two major releases since then. But I no longer have a phone supported by Sailfish :(

You would think that just building apps based off of the html design would allow easy adoption. In fact, I'm not sure why a developer for android/ios wouldn't just make a wrapper for html/javascript, especially with webassembly and webgl. Those capabilities give descent platform independence regardless of level.

I'm assuming all the html/javascript is on the local phone rather than remoting to a web address to get to it.
