Insulation panels are mineral wool, with a temperature rating up to 1200°F (648°C).
I was hoping the panels were more ridged like styrofoam, but they are kinda like packed insulation. To strengthen them for the printer, I painted with 2000°C paint, acting as a glue to stabilize the outer surface skin, but keeping the internal insulation properties.
These panels include the bottom, left, right, under the print bed, and back. I'm thinking of covering these on the exterior with standard foam insulation with the aluminum material on the outside to give it a more finished look, but keeping a high internal temperature rating. I'll determine if I'm happy with the look once the mineral wool is installed- if it looks good I won't need the foam panels.
Left to do:
- Front door with glass.
- Lightweight box frame top I can lift off (for maintenance) that has front overhang for printer cable.
- Install everything.
- Very carefully start temperature testing.
- Install exhaust fan to allow heat exhaust to exit when too hot.
