I hope he leaves his ego in space, there is still plenty of room there for it. The pathetic pissing contest between the cast should be on the next golden record leaving the solar system to correct the first one, and put Humanity in a much more balanced, fair, and accurate perspective.

I'm glad he got to go in his lifetime. Others are sure to follow. Thanks Bezos.

Way back in the early 2000 or so MIT published an Astrology 101 course online, the very first of its kind. It was good quality recorded video, and I am sorry I cannot remember the name who lectured - but I think it was with JLP sponsorship. Thats where I learned all about how to navigate space, how to find the distance of stellar objects and such. Later on that followed with JLP public lectures, it was a fascinating year for me.
Part of Astro 101 was the Drake equation, and I am sure you are familiar with it. Well, its been 20 years, and even SETI at home is concluded - the Drake equation is not a promise, its more like an Omen.
Going back some 6 million years, and we see just how close the evolutionary line of Homo Sapiens came to extinction. We know that many other species close to the man ape went extinct, I think their number is in the hundreds.
Human ignorance, laziness, and just a cosmic-level plain stupidity keeps the total extinction just around the corner. Forget about all else, and if you think about it even a civilization-ending event would be a salvation. Unfortunately that is no longer the chance, when we go broke we are going to disappear.
I am sorry to be a Debbie Downer, but I have very little hope in Humanity. I should have ignored History, because ignorance is Bliss.
EDIT: JPL, not JLP - Jet Propulsion Lab..
