Things are about to get exciting around here again... I don't recall if they replace this image with a new one after each advisory. I guess if doesn't say 8 pm in a few hours, we will know.

In a change from the usual, my co-workers in the Atlanta office look like they are going to get more wind and rain than we are in Gainesville, based on current predictions.

Looks like we now have a 100% change of tropical force winds here.

Too late for dry. I got drizzled on during my morning walk, :-)

After no rain since before noon, a small storm is passing through just as I got off work and want to walk the dog. It should be past soon. You'd never know there was a Cat3 hurricane just offshore. I'm sure we will feel it eventually.

I was in Puerto Vallarta Mexico when a huge hurricane was projected to hit, everything was boarded up, CNN and others news out in the streets waiting, airlines shut down. It rained for 15 minutes and that's it. no high winds. but that was a good mishap :)

I've been in PV during a hurricane/typhoon/cyclone/whatever. That was the day I went to get some coffee in the little restaurant nearby and found a drug execution took place there just hours earlier. Pools of blood all over the floor. That kind of thing.
It did make me forget about the weather.

One time in Mexico the neighbor woke up to garbage bags full of hacked bodies in the front yard. He didn't know the people and no idea why, police figured it was cartel sending a message but messed up on the address.

Nah, you're not in a third world country where this kind of violence is common. Oh wait...

It is up to a Cat 4 storm now. Meanwhile, my wife went out to play Pokemon Go. Gotta have priorities!

Power went out an hour ago. I'm shutting down the server to keep the network up longer...

Power came back at 6am. Fired things back up after I got up at 7.
We lost a big oak tree, that fortunately fell away from the house. There is tree debris everywhere. Some neighbors were not so fortunate. Many of them are still without power and I saw at least 3 trees that made contact with houses. Nothing looked catastrophic.

Compared to your recent experience, we've had it easy. Had the tree fallen east instead of north, we would be in a totally different situation of learning how sturdy our metal roof is.

Talked to some neighbors just now. Apparently, most of our neighborhood is still out of power. They are actually two connected neighborhoods and each seems to have its own electric feed.

We lost power again yesterday around 3:30pm. I assumed it was a planned outage to make repairs, but a couple hours later, after looking around, I realized that there was no repair going on. I was unhappy with my UPS when it claimed I had 3 hours left and it dies right after a 1 hour walk with the dog. So, I didn't get a chance to properly shutdown.
We are still down now, but we think we know what is going on. My wife saw various activity going on in the neighborhood this morning after I headed to the office. We think another tree came down yesterday and took out more power lines.
We are currently the largest outage our power company has, with 89 customers. The 5-hour old estimated restoration time in in about half an hour. With all the activity going on, I am hoping they won't be far off. Once it is back up, I can head home and get my server back online.
At 21 hours, so far, this is the longest power outage I think we have had at this location (we have been here 14 years). I think the previous record was 9 hours a few months ago when Debby came through. I think we were out 8 hours during the actual storm last week.

It came back as I was driving home from the office. The pennies on ice in the freezers were still on top of the ice. We may not have much go bad in the fridge if we eat it soon enough.
