I'm sure by now, some dingbat in the California legislature must have pointed at all these dysfunctions and claimed that the "free market" in legal weed doesn't work and that California should run all the dispensaries. Meanwhile, the black marketeers are laughing all the way to the bank.

Oakland CA demanding to own 50% of the pot business there

I have to wonder just how that would work as the government-run business inevitably loses market share to their competitors. I'm sure the central planners would come up with a [bad] plan to make it "work."
