Week 2 of regular season #
skeeball is tomorrow night. If you want to follow along with the season, the stats page for this season is at
here. My team is Mo-skeetos, just like last year. I am Dwatskee. My teammates are Skee60flip (formerly Barskeep) and Opal. We are scheduled to roll at 8pm US Eastern Time against Hot Pocket Summer. Live game scoring can be found
here. If you click on a game, you will see the frame score updates as they are entered. This week's opponent scored 74 points higher than we did last week, so we need to get our stuff together.
Last week, someone taught me a practice game to play. It is called "around the world". There are 9 balls and 8 possible outcomes for a roll -- gutter, 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, left 100, and right 100. The idea is the roll for each of those in sequence. When you get it, you move on to the next. Getting something ahead of its time doesn't count. A perfect game would result in getting every target on the first try and having one ball left over.
The best I did last week was reaching 40 with one ball left (which I missed the 50 with). The idea is to learn control. How hard to you have to roll to get in the gutter vs 10 vs 20, etc. So, aiming for a big open space to get the 10, for instance, defeats the purpose. The gutter, 10, and 20 don't have cups like the higher targets, but you want to aim for the actual holes. That was way harder than I expected. I've never really tried to hit anything less than 40 on purpose before. The first time, it took 3 or 4 tries to get the gutter instead of a 10.
