Stormtrooper quality test:
Left stormtrooper is standard PLA low temperature filament
Middle stormtrooper is ABS print without chamber. Notice uneven cooling creates warts on model.
Right stormtrooper is ABS printed with newly created chamber. Notice how smooth the model is.
Parts on right are nmy second iteration of printing with PEKK. The quality is still sub-standard but the part is usable. Since then, I've fine tuned the settings and am on iteration 3 (shown in next image).
Below is the current printing part, the print carriage aft section. Ignore the blue - that's just the lighting. The part is dark gray like the rest. The quality is looking great.
For me to print with more heat in the chamber, I will anneal the print carriage parts and replace. Printing with more heat in the chamber creates a better bond between layers and filament lines.
Plastic like ABS, PETG, and PLA print like melted plastic (kinda like honey, but thicker). Carbon Fiber Polycarbonate prints like toothpaste.
PEKK surprised me. When it comes out of the hotend it looks and feels like wire. Very strong stuff.
