It is week 3 of the skeeball season and I finally have a team!
It came about somewhat by accident. The team I was rolling against was missing a person. Not knowing that I was a team of 1, they got the bartender to agree to sub onto their team. Then they discovered I was just 1, so then the bartender would sub on my team making it 2-2. Then, just as we were getting started another player (the guy I was matched up with 1-1 in week 1) whose team didn't show up asked if he could join my team. Sure! So, then the other team grabbed someone from another team who had already rolled to make it 3-3.
Partway through the night, the guy with team problems asked if he could just be a permanent part of my team and then we talked the bartender into becoming a full member. Hopefully, it will turn into a reliable team. We decided to call ourselves the "Moskeetoes". (gotta try to get a "skee" in there). We named the bartender "Barskeep".
They both rolled far better than me (344 and 340 vs my 270) so we had the 3rd highest team score (out of 8) of the night. It was a close match, but in the end, we won 954-901. Hopefully, my new teammates will be able to roll some make-ups to replace the 90's from the past two weeks and we can move up the team ranks. Last night moved us from last to next to last, LOL.
I also rolled a new personal best frame of 40. Unfortunately, it was while rolling for fun after the match, so it doesn't officially beat my previous best of 36. I was trying different techniques, so hopefully I can figure out what I was doing differently next week and bring my average up. I'm currently ranked 18 out of 37 (fewer rollers in the summer, I guess).
I'm way more excited about this than I should be, LOL.
